Break it: Hold away from body and squeeze sides with both hands. Mix it: Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds to mix. Wrap it: Wrap or cover pack with protective material. Follow standard R.I.C.E. therapy: rest, apply ice, compression, and elevate.
